only the pain of pressure of the vice
two pieces of wood sitseparated only by the hardening glue that will hold them together
but with time
the pain will soften and the bond will harden
the glue will be stronger than the grain
and if the new board
made of the two old boards
should break
it will not break at the joint
but one of the old boards will break
leaving a thing incomplete
broken
