i stand, roadside
knee deep in lake water
fishing with my hands for trout hanging out by the culvert
i've been fishing for three hours
and the fish still tease me
i can touch them, feel them slide away
watch them come back to tease me again
still i try
achieving the impossible
is worth the effort
