between two brothers' hands
at the last catch they step toward each other
now there hands, grasping the bat, climb each other
then they near the bat's handle
finger-scissors appear
alas, the older, longer-fingered boy wins
again
first bat
he hoots
half the boys follow him
and half the younger brother
